SCORE: Study Coordinators Organization for Research & Education

SCORE provides support and regular networking opportunities to University research coordinators and staff. The participants of this UR CTSI-sponsored group meet to share information, collaborate, develop tools and best practices and learn of University processes related to human subject research management.

Mentoring

This is an informal program. Many of SCORE's members are experienced coordinators who can share their expertise on specific tasks or provide one-on-one professional guidance to coordinators who are in new positions or have new responsibilities coordinating human subject research at the University. Professional Development and Forums

• The UR CTSI trains aspiring Human Subject Research Coordinators in a fully paid, six-month training program that includes eight weeks of intensive training followed by real-world experience. After six months of satisfactory employment in the Human Subject Research Coordinator Training Program, a trainee is eligible for employment as a Human Subject Research Coordinator I.
• Educational opportunities are available through the Office for Human Subject Protection’s Division of Research Education & Training. Specific information regarding all training sessions will be announced through the OHSP listserv.
• ​The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) is a global association and resource for clinical research professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, and those in hospital, academic medical centers and physician office settings. To learn more about our local ACRP Western New York Chapter, contact Noreen Connolly.
• The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) is a non-profit, professional organization dedicated to continuing education and development of clinical research professionals. For local meeting information, contact Kathi Durdon.

Annual Awards

SCORE recognizes the constant hard work and dedication of each and every one of our study coordinators. To better recognize your outstanding work, we developed four awards to be given annually to study coordinators who demonstrate excellence in meliora values, teamwork, mentorship, and patient or research participant engagement. Each award carries a $50 monetary bonus. Congratulations to all!

 

Teamwork Award

The Teamwork Award recognizes commitment to consistently modeling open communication, cooperation and inclusion, and for building collaborative relationships to accomplish organizational goals.

Meliora Award

The Meliora Award recognizes commitment to the Meliora values of equity, leadership, integrity, openness, respect and accountability in every day work through words, actions and dealings with others.

Mentorship Award

The Mentorship Award recognizes commitment to the mentorship values of an individual, who demonstrates a willingness to share their knowledge, skills and time with others as well as encouraging the mentees to gain confidence in their skills and develop professionally.

Engagement Award

The Engagement Award recognizes commitment to outstanding patient or research participant engagement by implementing innovative research processes, including teaching, collaboration and positively impacting the commitment of the research participant.
